As a paid-on-call fire fighter for the Department, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, providing fire suppression and emergency services to the residents of Crete.

This is a job that puts you in the public eye and requires positive interaction with the citizens who need our services. How do you join?
Embark on a demanding and very satisfying career as a member of the Crete Fire Department; you will be competing against others for a limited number of openings. The Crete Fire Department is constantly seeking applicants for “paid-on-call” firefighters and reviews applications when there are openings in the paid-on-call division. The hiring process is as follows:
- Background Check
- Approval from Fire Chief
- Fire Fighter II Academy
- EMT-B Program
- Six months – one year probation period
- 18 years old
- US citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
